Apple Vision Pro 2 Tipped to Launch With a Upgraded Display

Apple Vision Pro 2

The first Vision Pro from Apple has not yet arrived (it's now a matter of 1-2 months ) that there is already talk of the second : the market research company Omdia launched the first rumors, according to which the second generation viewer would be equipped of a completely new screen, obviously better in at least two aspects.

What changes

The gist of the revelation is that Apple could switch from the current WOLED version with color filter to an OLEDoS RGB one. We would thus move from a different micro-OLED technology which would no longer use a colored filter. The Vision Pro 1's screen depends on filtering white light through a color layer, while OLEDoS is able to produce light and color directly from nearby RGB sub-pixels found on the single layer.

By eliminating the need for a color filter – they say – you would obtain on the one hand a much better screen brightness, and on the other hand you would also gain better efficiency.

As for supply, at the moment Samsung is the only company capable of producing this type of screen thanks to the acquisition of the eMagin company which took place at the beginning of 2023. If things do not change, this means that Samsung will take over from Sony, which currently supplies the Vision Pro 1 screens.

The other hypotheses

It is surprising that we already know what the screen of a device that has yet to be born should look like , especially when its first version is not yet commercially available.

According to the source, the launch of the Vision Pro 2 in question will not take place before 2027 , thus confirming the thesis of the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo , who has been very close to the Apple topic for years in terms of predictions, who already in September hypothesized the same period, identifying it as the best time for the launch of this new headset.

He believes that an economical version of the Apple headset could arrive in the middle (the upcoming Pro will cost $3,500), approximately around 2025, but here too the characteristics and dates for now are simple speculations.

Are you excited about the release of second-generation Vision Pro headset. What are you most looking forward to? We'd love to get your input on our Heyup Community.
