Huawei Unveils the MatePad Air (2026) Globally with OLED PaperMatte Display and Kirin T93C Chip
Huawei has officially launched its new MatePad Air (2026) tablet for the international market, introducing significant upgrades to its display technology. The new model transitions from the previous generation's LCD to a vibrant OLED panel and, for the first time in the Air series, incorporates the innovative PaperMatte display technology. The device is available for pre-order starting today, with shipments scheduled to begin on August 1st.

The centerpiece of the MatePad Air (2026) is its 12-inch OLED screen, which boasts a sharp 2800x1840 resolution and a fluid 144Hz high refresh rate. It supports the DCI-P3 wide color gamut and can reach a peak HDR brightness of 1200 nits. The PaperMatte version features a special matte coating on the screen's surface, which effectively reduces glare and reflections, providing a more immersive experience for watching videos or working.

Under the hood, the tablet is powered by the Kirin T93C chipset, which enables various AI-powered features. It is equipped with a large 10100mAh battery that supports 66W wired fast charging, delivering up to 8 hours of use for video conferencing or 10 hours for HDR video playback. For consumers who prefer a traditional screen finish, Huawei also offers a standard glossy glass version.

In terms of design and additional features, the MatePad Air (2026) is impressively thin at just 5.3mm. It houses a six-speaker audio system for an enhanced sound experience. The camera setup includes a 12-megapixel front-facing camera and a 50-megapixel main camera on the back. The device is available in three colors: Light Blue, Cherry Pink, and Pure White, and it runs on the HarmonyOS 4.3.0 operating system out of the box.

The European pricing for the Huawei MatePad Air (2026) has been announced as follows:
- Standard Glass + Keyboard (8+256GB): €849
- PaperMatte + Keyboard (8+256GB): €899
- PaperMatte + M-Pencil Pro (8+256GB): €899

Overall, the MatePad Air (2026) represents a substantial step up in Huawei's tablet offerings, combining a top-tier display, solid performance, and a sleek design, making it a compelling option for both productivity and entertainment.
