It’s almost impossible to always have the latest tech because soon enough (sometimes too soon), there’s a similar and slightly better version from a rival company, or even worse, the same brand you have. Luckily, the internet has given us a way to stay in the loop about upcoming tech before it’s released so we can decide if the new specs are worth the upgrade or not. 

So far, 2023 has seen some incredible tech releases that are more user-focused and hard to resist for their target audience. We’ve witnessed the competitive battle of the open-ear headphones with the release of the Oladance OWS Pro and Shokz OpenFit just a few weeks apart, the first official Google Pixel Fold which has been in the works for quite some time, and a variety of smart glasses that have joined the revolution of AR, VR, and AI-focused tech.  

The internet has also been filled with rumors about exciting tech to look forward to for the remainder of the year like the host of new products expected from Apple, the Nothing brand branching out to become accessible to more markets shortly after the release of the Nothing Phone 2, and talks of an updated smartwatch from the Google Pixel brand. This blog will explore these and more tech releases we can possibly look forward to for the remainder of the year and the start of 2024. 

 

Confirmed Releases

The Google Pixel Fold was a rumor for longer than a year before it was officially released, so it’s not uncommon for the tech industry to whet our appetite for extended periods before actually giving us a product. The tail end of 2023 is expecting the official release of the Apple iPhone 15, and INMO Air2 Wireless AR Glasses, and Google is also rumored to be making some well-deserved improvements on the Pixel Watch, which is expected to launch alongside the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.

Pixel is new to the game of smartwatches, and although they are a serious player in the smartphone industry, it’s no surprise that their first smartwatch came with some room for improvement. The next generation Google smartwatch will be released in October 2023 and is expected to have a different design from the first generation and feature a Qualcomm processor that’ll transform the user experience completely. 

Apple iPhone 15

Even if you’re not a die-hard Apple fan or follower, it’s hard to resist taking a peak at what they’re planning to launch because more often than not, Apple devices have a history of setting the tone for trends and developments in the smartphone industry. The iPhone 15 was announced as a possibility just a few months after the iPhone 14 was released, which could have made more people shy away from upgrading their iPhone 13 too soon. It’s been a few months in the works but the iPhone 15 is expected to be released in mid-late September 2023. 

Information surrounding the latest smartphone from Apple suggests that it will accommodate USB Type-C charging in accordance with new European laws, and it will feature the dynamic island design across all models. The iPhone’s camera is undoubtedly one of its best features, and the iPhone 15 is expected to make yet another improvement to the sensor design to accommodate the rumored 48-megapixel camera.

INMO Air2 All-in-One Wireless AR Glasses

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are growing trends that are largely shaped by the developments and technological advancements facilitated by Artificial Intelligence (AI). The second edition of the INMO Air AR glasses is a well-thought-out improvement from their first release back in 2021. 

 It features the intelligent assistant INMO GPT that can help users solve problems in real-time, dual full-color Micro-OLED displays and built-in speakers that deliver on-demand entertainment with access to YouTube and TikTok, and mapping features that simplify the process of navigation more than a standard smartphone would.  The INMO Air 2 AR glasses were released at the end of July and they are currently one of the products on the Heyup Tryouts Wishlist.

 

Expected Drops

It’s still too soon to know exactly when the tech that’s expected in 2024 will be released for sure. However, there are quite a few pieces of tech to look forward to that are the first of their kind, and some that are improvements on existing gadgets. This year, Apple announced its first venture into VR with the Apple Vision Pro, and it’s rumored that Samsung and Meta are gunning to become its biggest rival with the Samsung XR and Meta Quest 3 headsets, according to leaked information. Also, an affordable line of earbuds and smartwatches is expected from the newly announced CMF by Nothing with an official drop date yet to be confirmed.

Apple Vision Pro

The new Apple VR glasses have been the talk of the town since their announcement in June, and while the price remains a huge talking point, Apple has successfully made more people excited about the reality of mixed-reality technology by simply joining the game. 

What we know so far is that the Apple Vision Pro features an ultra-high-resolution system with more than 20 million pixels across two displays, and the unique visionOS that enables users to access their favorite apps and multi-task in an innovative way. 

CMF by Nothing

Following the success of the global release of the Nothing Phone 2, Nothing CEO Carl Pei has announced that Nothing is working towards reeling more consumers into the Nothing ecosystem with the sub-brand CMF by Nothing. While Nothing focuses more on delivering design innovation and the latest technology, CMF by Nothing will be more centered around clean and timeless design, according to the statement given by the CEO.

What we know so far is that the first products expected in this line are a smartwatch and a set of earbuds which will be released later this year. Judging by the reception of the Ear (2) earbuds, there’s much to be expected from the “low-end” branch of Nothing. 

 

More to be Expected

The biggest tech releases of 2023 and 2024 are a sure sign of where tech and gadgets of the future are headed, and it’s undeniable that we’re right in the middle of the 5th industrial revolution where we’ll be seeing a leap in the collaboration between humans and machines through cyber-physical systems like VR, AR, and AI.
