ASUS 800 Series Motherboards to Natively Support DDR5-7200 for Intel Core Ultra 200S CPUs

ASUS has announced a significant upgrade for its upcoming 800 series motherboards. The new Z890, B860, and H810 motherboards will now support JEDEC DDR5 memory configurations at 7200 MT/s by default. This enhancement is specifically designed for the next generation of Intel Core Ultra 200S desktop processors, promising users greater bandwidth and improved stability right out of the box.

Previously, Intel's Core Ultra 200S processors were expected to have a default JEDEC DDR5 memory support of 6400 MT/s. Achieving higher frequencies typically requires users to enable overclocking profiles like XMP. While effective, this method is technically an overclock, and any resulting instability or failure might not be covered by the official warranty. ASUS's latest move changes the game by providing this higher speed as a standard, JEDEC-certified setting.

By integrating DDR5-7200 JEDEC support directly into the BIOS, ASUS allows users to enjoy enhanced performance and reliability without the need to activate XMP. This simplifies the setup process and ensures that the system runs within officially supported parameters, providing peace of mind alongside a noticeable performance boost.

According to ASUS, this leap in native memory speed is the result of significant engineering efforts, including improved PCB routing, optimized signal integrity, and a more robust power delivery design. To showcase this capability, ASUS demonstrated the technology using a PRIME Z890-P motherboard paired with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265K processor and a 32GB (2x16GB) Kingston DDR5-7200 kit.

The test data revealed that the memory operated stably at 7200 MT/s with CL58-58-58-115 timings and a voltage of 1.10V. While the timings may appear relatively loose, the configuration was validated for stability using RunMemtestPro, confirming its reliability at these high speeds. This development marks a substantial step forward for plug-and-play performance on Intel's upcoming platform.
