Insta360 Ultra Go Leaked: A New Square Design with 4K/60fps Capabilities

According to a recent leak by Roland Quandt on August 13th, ahead of any official announcement from Insta360, the company's next-generation ultra-compact action camera is set to feature significant changes in both appearance and functionality. The new camera will reportedly be named the Insta360 Go Ultra, breaking from the previous naming convention that would have suggested an Insta360 Go 4.

The most noticeable change is a complete design overhaul. The new model abandons the previous capsule shape for a square body, with each side measuring approximately 30mm. The lens is positioned in one corner of the body. Leaked information also indicates a substantial weight increase to 53 grams, making it heavier than its predecessors, the Go 3 (35.5g) and Go 2 (26.5g).

Major internal upgrades justify the increase in weight. The Insta360 Go Ultra is said to be equipped with a new, larger 1/1.28-inch sensor. This new hardware enables the camera to support 4K video recording at 60fps, a frame rate double that of the Go 3S, which was released about a year ago. This represents a significant leap in performance for the compact series.

In addition to the higher resolution and frame rate, the new camera will retain key features like image stabilization and horizon lock. It will also support an Active HDR mode, which can be used when shooting at 4K/30fps to produce more vibrant and dynamic footage. These features ensure that the video quality is smooth and visually appealing under various conditions.

The Go Ultra will also be accompanied by a redesigned Action Pod. This base features a versatile flip-up screen that serves as a real-time preview monitor, a wireless remote control, and a power bank to extend the camera's battery life. However, specific details regarding the total battery duration with the Action Pod are not yet available.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on Insta360 Ultra Go and the newest tech launches.
