Anbernic RG40XX V Launches: Supports Games from Over 30 Classic Consoles

Anbernic RG40XXV Video

After bringing us the RG35XXSP inspired by the Nintendo GameBoy Advance SP and launching the RG40XX H, Anbernic is preparing to expand the new RG40 series with RG40XX V, which could be the sequel to the popular RG35XX. Through an official video, Anbernic reveals the new console running several games, as well as the new design. However, few technical details have been revealed.

The 'V' in the name suggests this new console may offer similar features to the RG40XX H but in a vertical format. Confirmed features include a 4-inch full-illuminated IPS screen with a resolution of 640x480 and ultra-thin bezels. The device will run on a Linux operating system and support multiple emulators, including SEGA Dreamcast, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, ARCADE, and PlayStation Portable, along with a variety of retro consoles predating the 32-bit era.

In addition to the screen, the main highlight is the analog stick, which features an illuminated and personalized ring. This design will allow compatibility with games that require analog sticks, such as Nintendo 64 and PlayStation Portable titles. The console's vertical format is reminiscent of the iconic Nintendo Game Boy and is similar to some Anbernic consoles, including the RG35XX.

The RG40XX V will be available in White, Indigo, and Translucent Black. As for pricing and availability, there is no confirmation yet. However, it's likely to be priced similarly to the horizontal version, the RG40XX H, which is currently available on Anbernic's official website for USD 69.99 (around €64).
