BOE Reportedly Enters Gaming Monitor Market with 24.5-inch 2K OLED Panels
According to a report from Korean display research firm UBI Research, Chinese display giant BOE has begun producing 2K (QHD) White OLED (WOLED) display panels at its B5 factory in Hefei. The production is reportedly focused on a new 24.5-inch size, a significant development for the monitor market.
The report further indicates that BOE is not stopping there. The company has ambitious plans to expand its production capabilities by adding a new line at its B18 factory in Nanjing. This expansion is expected to add a monthly production capacity of 16,000 to 18,000 WOLED monitor panels, signaling a strong commitment to this emerging segment.
This move follows earlier indications of interest in this size category. In September of last year, a BOE executive mentioned plans to release a 24.5-inch white-light OLED gaming product in November. Separately, rumors had circulated about Samsung Display considering an accelerated launch for its own 24.5-inch OLED panel. To date, however, no official updates have been released for either of these previously mentioned products.

The introduction of a 24.5-inch OLED panel by BOE is poised to significantly impact the market. Currently, the smallest mainstream OLED gaming monitors are typically 26.5 or 27 inches. A smaller size option will cater to a wider audience, particularly gamers with limited desk space or those looking for a more budget-friendly entry into the world of OLED displays.
The timing aligns with strong growth projections for the OLED monitor market. UBI Research forecasts that OLED monitor shipments will reach 5 million units in 2026, marking a substantial 56.25% year-over-year increase. The long-term outlook is even more promising, with shipments expected to hit 15.6 million units by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 37.28%.
