The Canon Cinema EOS lineup is set for an update, as leaked images and key specifications of a new model, the EOS C50, have surfaced online, generating significant buzz among filmmakers.

According to reports from CanonRumors, the Canon EOS C50 is expected to be officially announced on May 29th. It will reportedly feature a Super35 sensor capable of impressive recording formats, including internal 7K 60P Cinema RAW Light and uncropped 4K 120P. Additionally, the camera is said to support an oversampled 4K XF-AVC format.

Leaked images reveal a body design similar to the existing EOS C70, but in a more compact and smaller form factor with a revised button layout. The side of the camera is equipped with a comprehensive set of ports, including SDI, HDMI, and XLR audio inputs, catering to the demands of professional productions.

Furthermore, the EOS C50 is expected to inherit the same Dual Gain Output (DGO) technology found in the EOS C70, which delivers superior image quality in high dynamic range scenarios. The new camera will also feature second-generation digital image stabilization, enhancing stability for handheld shooting.

The Canon EOS C50 appears to be positioned between the EOS R5 C and the EOS C70, targeting independent filmmakers and small production teams with a powerful yet highly portable cinema camera. While specific details on pricing and availability have not yet been released, it is anticipated to launch at a very competitive price point, making it a compelling new option in the market.
