Huawei Mate 70 Series Launch

After a long time appearing as rumors, today, Huawei officially launched its latest flagships, the Huawei Mate 70 Series. This product range consists of four different models: the Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design.

They all have premium designs, powerful hardware configurations, and many interesting AI features to bring great user experiences. In the article below, we will learn about this elite smartphone lineup.

Huawei Mate 70 & 70 Pro

The Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro duo have similar designs, including a glass back and an aluminum frame. Both models support high-end IP69 water resistance, equipped with 10-bit 120Hz LTPO OLED screens, and have a maximum brightness of 2,500 nits. The standard version features a 6.7-inch display, while the Pro version offers a 6.9-inch display.

Huawei Mate 70

In terms of camera, Huawei equips the Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro with a 3-camera system on the back, however, there are differences in the lenses. Specifically, the standard version has a 50MP wide-angle camera, 40MP ultra-wide angle, 125mm 5X 12MP periscope, while the Pro version upgrades the periscope camera to 48MP but reduces the negative to 93mm, equal to 3.5X. Both have a 13MP selfie camera on the front, but the Pro version has an additional TOF 3D sensor that supports 3D face unlocking like the iPhone's Face ID.

Huawei Mate 70 Series

There is no information about the processor chips of these two models, but it is likely that Huawei will equip the new Mate line with the Kirin 9100 chip. The device comes with a 5,300mAh and 5,500mAh battery, 66W and 100W fast charging for the standard and Pro versions respectively.

Huawei Mate 70 Pro+

The Mate 70 Pro+ has a back that combines gold and brocade fibers, creating a luxurious and durable appearance. The frame is made of titanium alloy, providing sturdiness and good scratch and impact resistance. The device meets IP69 water resistance standards.

Huawei Mate 70 Pro+

6.9-inch OLED display, 2832 x 1316 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 2,500 nits maximum brightness, and protected by second-generation Kunlun tempered glass. The screen integrates a 3D face sensor, while the fingerprint sensor is located on the side.

In terms of configuration, Mate 70 Pro+ is said to use a Kirin 9100 chip with Cortex cores, manufactured on a 6nm process. The device has 16GB RAM and is equipped with Ark Engine to optimize performance.

The rear camera cluster includes 50MP RYYB main camera, variable aperture f/1.4-f/4.0; 40MP RYYB super wide-angle camera, f/2.2; and 48MP RYYB telephoto camera, 4x optical zoom, f/2.1. All cameras support autofocus. 13MP selfie camera, f/2.4. The Mate 70 Pro+ has a 5,700mAh battery, supports 100W wired fast charging and 80W wireless charging.

Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design

The Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design also has a titanium frame but is equipped with a dual OLED display with a maximum brightness of up to 3,500 nits and Kunlun Basalt glass. Other specifications of the Mate 70 RS are similar to the Mate 70 Pro +, featuring a 5,700mAh battery, 16GB of RAM, and options for 512GB or 1TB of internal storage, and a triple-lens rear camera cluster.

Huawei Mate 70 RS

All Mate 70 devices operate on HarmonyOS 4.3 and are compatible with Baidu satellite connectivity. When Huawei completes its own operating system, the device will be upgraded to Harmony NEXT, which has nothing to do with Android and cannot run Android apps.

Versions and prices

The Huawei Mate 70 is already on sale in China. There is no news yet about its possible arrival in Europe. Below are the prices and variants available in its home market.

Huawei Mate 70

The standard Mate 70 starts at approximately $751 for the 12GB+256GB model, $837 for the 12GB+512GB version, and $911 for the 12GB+1TB variant.

Huawei Mate 70 Pro

The Mate 70 Pro is priced higher, with the 12GB+256GB model at around $913, the 12GB+512GB at $911, and the 12GB+1TB at $1,140.

Huawei Mate 70 Pro+

The premium Mate 70 Pro+ starts at about $1,241 for the 16GB+512GB model and $1,362 for the 16GB+1TB.

Huawei Mate 70 RS

The luxurious Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design is priced at approximately $1,695 for the 512GB variant and $1,862 for the 1TB model, making it the most expensive option in the lineup. These smartphones are currently on pre-order, and the official sale starts on December 4.
