Leaked Poster Teases Ultra-Thin Huawei Mate 70 Air, Dubbed 'Thinnest Mate in History'

Huawei Mate 70 Air

On September 10, a poster allegedly for the upcoming Huawei Mate 70 Air smartphone began circulating online, creating a buzz with its bold claims. The poster's central theme is that this will be the "Thinnest Mate in History," accompanied by the intriguing slogan, "More Than Thin." This leak suggests Huawei is planning to introduce a new, exceptionally slim model to its flagship Mate series, focusing on a sleek and lightweight design without compromising on substance.

The poster provides a glimpse into the device's design language. According to the image, the Huawei Mate 70 Air will feature a modern, right-angled frame, giving it a sharp and clean look. On the back, the phone sports a large, circular camera module, a design element that is becoming a signature for the series. The flash is positioned in the top-left corner of this module, completing the aesthetic revealed in the promotional material.

This design is consistent with other information emerging about the wider Mate 70 lineup. According to a report from the blogger @Digital Chat Station earlier the same day, the final designs for the standard and Pro versions of the Huawei Mate 70 series have been finalized. The entire series is set to feature a prominent "big circle" design, referring to the circular camera module, which corroborates the visuals seen in the Mate 70 Air poster.

The anticipated upgrades are not just skin-deep. The same source also indicated that the Huawei Mate 70 series is expected to be the first to launch with the official version of the "pure-blood Harmony" HarmonyOS NEXT. Internally, the phones are rumored to be powered by a new Kirin chipset, which is expected to deliver a significant boost in performance. Furthermore, the imaging capabilities of the series are also slated for an upgrade, though specific details remain under wraps.

While Huawei has not announced an official release date, the Mate 70 series has already made progress through regulatory channels. The devices have passed the national 3C certification and received radio approval in China under the model numbers "MAG-AL00," "MAG-AL20," "MAG-AN00," and "MAG-AN20." These certifications are a standard step before a product launch, indicating that an official unveiling may not be far off.

Speculation about a September release is rampant, largely based on Huawei's past launch schedules. For reference, on September 12 of last year, Huawei released the Mate 60 Pro+ and the Mate X5 foldable phone. This was followed by the Autumn Full-Scenario New Product Launch Conference on September 25, where the Mate 60 RS Ultimate Design was unveiled. This historical precedent has led many to believe that the Mate 70 series could follow a similar timeline and debut this month.
