Amazon's $6,000 Shipping Error: Customer Orders Two SSDs, Gets Two Full Cases—And Keeps Them

A Reddit user, posting under the handle @1trollzor1, recently shared an extraordinary experience with an Amazon order. The user had purchased just two Samsung 9100 Pro solid-state drives (SSDs), but was shocked to receive a delivery containing two entire cases of the high-performance drives.

The unexpected shipment represents a massive windfall, with the total value of the extra hardware estimated at around $6,000. When the customer contacted Amazon's customer service about the error, they were reportedly told that they did not need to return the extra items. The lucky recipient is now contemplating whether to sell some of the drives or use them to build a powerful all-flash Network Attached Storage (NAS) system.

To put the value into perspective, the Samsung 9100 Pro is a top-tier SSD. It utilizes a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface and NVMe 2.0 protocol in an M.2 2280 form factor, boasting impressive sequential read speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds up to 13,400 MB/s.

According to a report by VideoCardz, this isn't the first time Amazon has made such a significant picking error. A similar incident was reported on Reddit in June 2025, where a customer who ordered a single 2TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus received a box containing nine drives from a master case of ten.

Even earlier Reddit reports detail similar mistakes involving full cases of SATA SSDs being shipped by mistake. In one instance, a user who ordered a single 500GB Samsung 870 EVO was sent an entire case of ten drives.

While such events are rare and should be viewed with a degree of caution, they appear to be recurring warehouse errors rather than hoaxes. The Reddit comment section for this latest incident has not shown any signs that the story was fabricated, suggesting it is another genuine case of a customer getting a very lucky break.
