AMD Radeon RX 9060 8GB Performance Review: A Budget King Rivaling the RTX 5060

Recent tests from the YouTube channel Technosaurus have put AMD's newly released Radeon RX 9060 8GB graphics card under the microscope, revealing a formidable contender in the budget GPU market. The findings suggest that at its price point, it not only comprehensively surpasses NVIDIA's RTX 5050 but, in some gaming scenarios, delivers up to double the performance.

Quietly launched on August 5th, the AMD Radeon RX 9060 8GB is designed for the entry-level segment. It is built on the new RDNA 4 architecture and features the Navi 48 core. Key specifications include 28 Compute Units, 1792 Stream Processors, and 56 AI Accelerators, along with support for new technologies like FSR 4. However, AMD has stated the card will not be sold directly to DIY builders, being available exclusively through OEMs and system integrators in pre-built systems.

The card is equipped with 32MB of Infinity Cache and 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus, providing up to 288GB/s of bandwidth. With a maximum Total Board Power (TBP) of just 132W, it requires only a single 8-pin power connector, making it a highly efficient option.

The review, which used a compact Sapphire Pulse dual-fan model, showed impressive results. In FHD (1080p) resolution at maximum settings, the RX 9060 consistently averaged over 60 FPS in mainstream titles. In demanding games like *Red Dead Redemption 2*, its performance was double that of the RTX 5050. On average, the RTX 5050 was found to be 20% slower than the RX 9060 8GB across the board.

Perhaps most strikingly, the tests revealed that the more expensive NVIDIA RTX 5060 is only 2% faster than the Radeon RX 9060, while AMD's own RX 9060 XT is just 6% faster. Considering the RX 9060 8GB's price range of $250 to $280, it offers an exceptional price-to-performance ratio that is hard to beat.
