EcoFlow DELTA Gen4 Arrives at $1,299 With Lighter Build
EcoFlow DELTA Gen4 and RIVER Gen4 series portable power stations have officially launched, bringing redesigned, lighter enclosures and ultra-low self-discharge starting at $1,299. Built for homeowners preparing for blackout resilience and campers needing reliable off-grid electricity, the new models substantially cut idle power consumption. However, full expansion capabilities on the flagship DELTA units require purchasing separate add-on batteries, which drives up the overall investment.

DELTA Gen4: Heavyweight Capacity in a Trimmed-Down Enclosure
The DELTA Gen4 line tackles the standard pain point of large power stations: excessive idle drain and unwieldy mass. EcoFlow states both models cut internal power consumption by up to 70%, pulling 14W with the AC inverter active under zero load and 3W during standby. An integrated Fridge Runtime Boost mode optimizes energy distribution between compressor cooling cycles, allowing the DELTA 3800 Gen4 to sustain a standard refrigerator for up to 70 hours, while the DELTA 3000 Gen4 maintains cooling for up to 58 hours.
For prolonged emergencies, the new Emergency Power Mode reserves a dedicated DC buffer for smartphones and illumination even after the primary display indicates 0% charge. Automotive-grade LFP cells inside the units retain 99% of their charge after 12 months in storage, reducing the need for constant maintenance top-ups.
- DELTA 3800 Gen4: 3763Wh base capacity (expandable up to 12kWh), 3600W continuous output, 7200W surge, supporting up to 4600W loads via X-Boost. Weighs 67.5 lbs.
- DELTA 3000 Gen4: 3072Wh capacity, 3600W continuous output, 7200W surge, supporting up to 4600W loads via X-Boost. Weighs 57.3 lbs.
Flexible Charging Protocols and Storm Automation
Replenishing high-capacity batteries off-grid often creates bottlenecks. The DELTA 3000 Gen4 supports four charging inputs (wall AC, generator, solar, and vehicle alternator), completing a standard AC wall charge in under two hours. The DELTA 3800 Gen4 expands input options to six configurations—including simultaneous dual-source setups such as solar plus alternator or solar plus generator—reaching a full charge via wall AC in under 2.5 hours.
On the software side, Storm Guard Mode 2.0 tracks real-time severe weather warnings from the U.S. National Weather Service to automatically trigger top-up charging prior to local outages. When power drops unexpectedly, an integrated uninterruptible power supply switchover transfers loads within 10 milliseconds, preventing desktop hardware and network routers from dropping offline.
RIVER Gen4: Ultra-Compact Portability for Mobile Setups
For mobile outdoor setups and fieldwork, the RIVER Gen4 series implements high-density cell stacking to shrink chassis volume. The RIVER 260 Gen4 offers a 256Wh capacity with 300W output and weighs just over 6 lbs, which EcoFlow notes is 32% smaller than prevailing category averages. The larger RIVER 520 Gen4 packs 512Wh with 500W output into a 10-lb chassis, measuring 54% smaller than category averages.
Both RIVER units draw 6.6W with their AC ports switched on and 1W in standby mode. Input recharging via AC, vehicle alternator, solar, or USB-C can juice the RIVER 260 Gen4 from zero to 80% in 42 minutes, while the RIVER 520 Gen4 reaches that threshold in 50 minutes. Each unit features 140W bidirectional USB-C connectivity alongside standard AC outputs, a sub-10ms UPS transfer, and the same low-battery emergency reserve found on the larger DELTA hardware.
Pricing and Rollout Schedule
The DELTA Gen4 series is available on the EcoFlow storefront at early-bird pricing of $1,299 for the DELTA 3000 Gen4 and $1,699 for the DELTA 3800 Gen4. Pre-sales for the compact RIVER Gen4 series open on November 24.
If you rely on backup power during seasonal storms, does the lower idle drain and reduced carry weight make upgrading worthwhile, or is your current station meeting your household demands?
