HTC Launches Vive Eagle AI Smart Glasses in Australia, Blending Style with Powerful AI
HTC is expanding the global availability of its Vive Eagle AI smart glasses, officially launching the device in Australia. Following its debut in North American and European markets, the smart glasses are now available for pre-order in Australia through Harvey Norman, priced at 799 AUD.
The Vive Eagle adopts a unique display-less AI glasses form factor, integrating a camera, open-ear audio, and generative AI capabilities into a conventional eyewear design. Instead of projecting digital content into the user's view, interaction is primarily handled through voice commands and visual sensing. The product is available in two distinct frame designs, Square and Pantos, with various color and finish options, including the choice of premium ZEISS lenses.
For imaging, the Vive Eagle is equipped with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera capable of capturing photos and recording stabilized 3K video. On the audio front, it features directional open-ear speakers, which are designed for playing music, making calls, and receiving AI voice feedback without blocking out ambient sound.
At the core of the experience is HTC's proprietary Vive AI platform, which connects to powerful services like Google Gemini and OpenAI's ChatGPT. This allows users to perform a range of tasks with simple voice commands, including asking questions, taking notes, and querying information. By leveraging the camera, the glasses can also perform visual Q&A, translate text from images, and offer real-time translation, enabling users to ask about objects they see or translate signs on the fly.
HTC has also addressed privacy and practicality. An LED indicator alerts those nearby when the camera is active, and all photos and videos are stored encrypted on the device itself. The glasses are lightweight, weighing approximately 49g with lenses, and feature an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance. The battery supports up to 4.5 hours of continuous music playback and utilizes a magnetic charging system, which HTC claims can charge the device from 1% to 50% in just 10 minutes.
