FCC Filing Reveals "Ace Ultra" Name and Five Color Options
An FCC filing that surfaced on Monday lists the product as the Sonos Ace Ultra (model S52a), confirming the name of the upcoming headphones.
While most of the filing was heavily redacted, it did reveal that the Ace Ultra will be offered in up to five colors — a significant expansion from the original Ace's black-and-white-only lineup.
The timing of the filing strongly suggests the Ace Ultra will be unveiled at Sonos's planned September launch event.
AI and Voice Commands Take Center Stage
The FCC documents also hint that the new headphones will support voice commands, fueling speculation that the Ace Ultra will integrate with AI assistants and third-party AI chatbots.
This aligns with Sonos CEO Tom Conrad's broader vision for the company. Conrad has described Sonos's opportunity as "conversational computing" and predictive intelligence for the home — where Sonos devices in different rooms can understand a household's lifestyle and usage patterns.
