TSMC's 2nm Process Mass Production Scheduled For 2025H2
A recent update from tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo has revealed significant developments in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) production roadmap. According to the update, the TSMC is planning to kick off mass production of its 2nm process technology in late 2024, with a full rollout expected by the second half of 2025. Reports suggest that Apple could be among the first companies to use this advanced technology.
Additionally, the tipster highlights that TSMC's N3P technology is expected to be the standard for the industry next year. This technology could also play a key role in Qualcomm's upcoming SM8850 chip, which is anticipated to be the second generation of the Snapdragon 8 Elite series.
Additionally, Digital Chat Station noted that Qualcomm might combine both TSMC’s N3P and Samsung’s SF2 technologies for its next flagship Snapdragon processor, as relying on a single company would probably shoot up the price, as seen with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
However, it's still possible that TSMC's N3P technology could be exclusively used. The next-generation chip produced with this process is expected to deliver a performance boost of over 20% and improved power efficiency compared to this year's model.
