Bigme Confirms Next-Gen Dual-Screen E-Ink Phone with Powerful Dimensity 8300 Chip

Bigme has officially announced through its social media channels that its next-generation dual-screen e-ink smartphone is under development. The key highlight of this upcoming device is a significant upgrade in processing power, aiming to deliver a much smoother user experience.

The new smartphone will be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor. This marks a substantial performance leap for an e-ink device, with the company claiming an impressive AnTuTu benchmark score of over 1.6 million. This positions the phone to handle demanding tasks far beyond typical e-reader capabilities.

This development follows the release of another dual-screen phone by Bigme in April, which was powered by a Dimensity 1080 processor. That model, which started at $359, featured a combination of a color/monochrome e-ink screen and an LCD display. However, it drew criticism from some users as the LCD was merely a small, circular secondary screen, not a fully functional primary display.

In response to that feedback, Bigme had previously issued a statement in April reflecting on the design of its HiBreak Dual phone. The company acknowledged the community's expectations and confirmed that a true dual-screen smartphone, featuring both a large e-ink panel and a large LCD panel, had been officially added to its research and development pipeline.

When questioned about a release timeline for this new, more powerful device, Bigme stated that there is "no accurate news at this time." Given that the previous model was launched just recently, it may be a considerable amount of time before this Dimensity 8300-powered phone is ready for the market.
