Insta360 Luna Pro Could Trade Telephoto Zoom for Lower Weight and Price
The unannounced Insta360 Luna Pro has appeared in a new leak, revealing what could be a more accessible single-lens alternative to the dual-camera Luna Ultra.
An image shared by The New Camera shows a white handheld gimbal camera with one lens, a built-in display and a control layout similar to the Luna Ultra. Insta360 has not confirmed the product, its specifications or its launch schedule.
One Camera Instead of Two
The biggest reported difference is the removal of the Luna Ultra’s secondary telephoto camera. The Luna Pro is instead expected to focus on a single main camera with a 1-inch sensor and a Leica-branded lens.
According to the leak, the camera may retain several of the Ultra model’s professional features, including three-axis mechanical stabilization, 10-bit video recording and a color-temperature sensor.
Dropping the telephoto camera could make the Luna Pro lighter and less expensive. That would position it for creators who prioritize main-camera image quality and stabilization over optical zoom. However, no weight, dimensions or pricing information has surfaced.
The Detachable Screen Could Be Its Standout Feature
The leak claims that the Luna Pro will retain the Ultra’s detachable remote display. On the Luna Ultra, this 2-inch OLED touchscreen can be removed from the camera and used for wireless monitoring and full camera control from up to 20 meters away.
The Ultra’s display also includes an independent wireless microphone for remote audio capture. If those capabilities carry over, the Luna Pro could be particularly useful for solo creators recording interviews, product demonstrations, travel videos or fixed-camera shots without an additional monitor.
These features have not yet been confirmed for the Pro model, so it remains unclear whether its remote screen will match the Ultra version in range and functionality.
Vertical 4K Could Appeal to Social Video Creators
The Luna Pro is also rumored to support vertical 4K recording at 30 frames per second. The report suggests this could exceed the Luna Ultra’s current vertical recording capability.
Native vertical 4K would make the camera more relevant to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts creators who want high-resolution footage without rotating or heavily cropping horizontal video.
Still, important details remain unknown, including stabilization behavior in vertical mode, recording limits, thermal performance, and whether the camera uses the full sensor area.
A Promising Leak, but Not Yet a Product
The Luna Pro could fill a useful gap between premium dual-camera gimbals and more affordable creator cameras. Its appeal will depend on the final price, battery life, remote-screen implementation and how much versatility is lost with the telephoto camera.
Until Insta360 officially announces the product or independent testing becomes available, the leaked specifications should be treated as provisional.
