GTA 6 Release Date Leaked by a Online Retailer: What We Know So Far

GTA 5, one of the best-selling video games of all time, made its debut in 2013. Recently, Rockstar Games released a teaser trailer for GTA 6, which got over 90 million views within 24 hours. Although the trailer confirmed the game would be released in Fall 2025, it did not specify an exact date. Below is a brief overview of the details regarding the release date, pricing, and system requirements.
The rumored launch date was allegedly leaked by a Spanish online retailer, XUruguay, which listed September 17, 2025, on its game page for GTA VI. According to a report from 80.LV, representatives from XUruguay stated they have a close relationship with PlayStation, which allows them to receive product updates, including release timings.

However, after the leak, XUruguay updated its page for GTA VI, removing the previously mentioned date. It also changed the game’s description from being a PlayStation 5 exclusive to a general new installment in the series expected for next year.
The date mentioned aligns interestingly with the original release of GTA V, which also launched on September 17, exactly 12 years prior. Some speculate this could be nothing more than a coincidence or a placeholder.

The recently released 90-second trailer revealed that GTA 6 will take place in a location inspired by Miami, called Vice City, and will feature a female lead named Lucia, whose narrative begins in prison. The trailer features thrilling car chases and various cultural references, including nods to social media platforms like TikTok.
Possible Release Price of GTA 6
Industry analyst Matthew Ball has predicted that GTA 6's standard edition could be priced at $100, a significant jump from the current market average. This prediction is based on the game's immense popularity and increased production costs. The price hike from $60 to $70 with the release of next-gen consoles in 2020 serves as a precedent for such a decision.
GTA 6 System Requirements and Availability
At launch, GTA 6 will be available exclusively on next-generation consoles, including the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Unfortunately, the game will not be playable on previous-generation consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. According to reports, the PC version is expected to be released in 2026, and high-end specifications are expected to be necessary for optimal performance.
