Samsung to Discontinue 'Quick Measure' and 'AR Doodle' Apps in 2026

Samsung has officially confirmed that two of its classic augmented reality (AR) applications, 'Quick Measure' and 'AR Doodle,' featured on its Galaxy smartphones, will have their services terminated on December 31, 2026.

These applications have been part of the Galaxy ecosystem for many years. 'Quick Measure' leverages the phone's camera to directly measure the distance and dimensions of objects in a real-world setting. Meanwhile, 'AR Doodle' offers a creative outlet, allowing users to draw and add imaginative graphics onto live scenes through their camera.

In a formal notice, Samsung detailed the plan for the shutdown. After the specified date, the company will cease to offer downloads and update support for the applications. This move effectively brings an end to the current iteration of these AR tools.

For users who already have the applications installed, they will be able to continue using them post-termination. However, Samsung has cautioned that certain features may no longer function as expected. Furthermore, and perhaps more critically, future operating system updates will not provide compatibility support for 'Quick Measure' or 'AR Doodle'.

While these apps are being retired, Samsung has suggested that their functionalities will return in a new form. The company stated that both AR services are slated to be relaunched in an optimized and upgraded state in the future. However, a specific timeline for the release of these new versions has not yet been announced.
