Aqara’s New Smart Lighting Lineup Brings Thread, Zigbee, and Apple Home Support to IFA 2026
Aqara is going bigger on smart lighting at IFA 2026, and this time the company is not showing just one lamp or one strip. It is unveiling a full lighting lineup built around Thread, Zigbee, and Matter, with support for Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, and Homey.
The new range includes five products: the Floor Lamp T1, LED Downlight T2, LED Strip T2, Outdoor String Lights H1, and Permanent Outdoor Lights H1. Aqara’s pitch is clear: lighting should not just turn on and off, it should become part of the automation layer of the whole home.
A Lighting Lineup That Covers More of the House
The Floor Lamp T1 is the most visually distinctive of the group. Aqara describes it as a wall-wash style lamp with 18 controllable zones, so users can create layered color effects instead of getting just one flat beam of light.
The LED Downlight T2 is aimed at rooms where ceiling integration matters more than design drama. Aqara says it comes in 4-inch and 6-inch versions and is designed for retrofits, making it easier to add smart lighting without redesigning a room.
The LED Strip T2 takes the opposite approach. It is meant for shelves, cabinets, and other accent-lighting spots where subtle color shifts matter. Aqara says it uses 18 independently controlled zones per 3 meters, which should help create smoother gradients.
Outdoor Lighting Becomes Part of the Ecosystem
Aqara is also pushing smart lighting outside the house.
The Outdoor String Lights H1 are built for patios and decks, while the Permanent Outdoor Lights H1 are designed to stay up year-round. Aqara says the permanent lights can be extended or cut to fit a roofline, which makes them more flexible than seasonal decorative lights.
This is where the new lineup starts to feel more complete. Aqara is not just adding lighting products for the sake of having more SKUs. It is trying to cover the places where people actually want lighting automation: living rooms, ceilings, shelves, patios, and exterior walls.
Matter, Thread, and Zigbee All in One
All five lights support Thread and Zigbee, and Aqara says they are Matter-enabled. That means the products should fit into more than one smart-home ecosystem, including Apple Home.
That compatibility matters. A lot of smart lighting still feels locked to one brand’s app or one hub model. Aqara is trying to make the lights useful whether users are building around Aqara hardware or mixing it with other smart-home platforms.
According to Aqara, the lights can also respond to sensors, routines, and automations through Aqara Home, which should make them more flexible than basic app-controlled bulbs.
