CMF Phone 1: New Leaks Confirm Its More Specs Ahead of July 8 Launch
A little less than a year ago now, Nothing announced its intention to market entry-level smartphones under another brand, CMF. The manufacturer recently made official the first device to come from its catalog, the CMF Phone 1. A few days before this presentation, CMF is orchestrating the buzz around its product with posts on X that reveal some key details.
Customizable design
We understand that this phone will offer a customizable design using interchangeable accessories. Nothing really new, we can say, if we remember Motorola and its Mods. But CMF has taken a novel approach with accessories that can be screwed onto the back of the phone in the bottom corner. The images show a large, circular, protruding button that can apparently be removed to screw on accessories. These include a kickstand and a carabiner.
The CMF Phone 1 will come with a screwdriver matching its design to swap out accessories and showcases the back cover which will be available in four colours: black, blue, light green and orange.
It is not yet clear what accessories will be included with the smartphone, but already the features of the CMF Phone 1 make it one of the most interesting solutions in the mid-budget segment.
Leaked technical characteristics
Leaker Yogesh Brar posted a photo of the CMF Phone 1 from the front, allowing us to see its screen. The photo has since been deleted, but not before GSMArena took a screenshot of it. We can see that the borders around the screen are quite thick, nothing unusual for an entry-level device. The front camera is housed in a central punch-hole.
Above all, the visual confirms the technical characteristics of the smartphone. We find a Dimensity 7300 chip from MediaTek, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen and the Nothing OS 2.6.0 overlay based on Android 14 on the software side.
Most of these specifications had already been communicated by Nothing during its teaser campaign, but we learn that the battery capacity reaches 5,000mAh, which was uncertain until then. The charging power could go up to 33W in wired mode.
Price and availability
The company has been announcing it for weeks: the CMF Phone 1 will be officially presented on July 8, 2024. However, this date only refers to the arrival of all the official details, not its launch.
We will have to wait until this day to find out what strategy the brand wants to follow when it comes to selling it and when it will do so. In addition to this smartphone, the July 8 presentation will also include new CMF Buds Pro 2 earphones and a CMF Watch Pro 2 watch.
