Mouse Computer Unveils NEXTGEAR Case with Instantly Switchable Transparent-to-Frosted Glass

Japanese PC manufacturer Mouse Computer officially launched its new NEXTGEAR EG series of gaming desktops on January 26th, exclusively for its direct retail stores. Alongside the new PCs, the company introduced an innovative chassis: the NEXTGEAR Clear Shift case, which features a glass side panel that can switch between transparent and frosted effects at the touch of a button. This case is the official production model of a prototype previously exhibited at the Tokyo Game Show.

The NEXTGEAR Clear Shift is a pillar-less panoramic mATX case with dimensions of approximately 233×442×446 mm. It is designed to accommodate modern high-performance components, offering support for 360mm liquid coolers and standard ATX power supplies. For maintenance and airflow, the case is equipped with detachable magnetic dust filters on both the top and bottom panels.

The standout feature of this case is its ability to instantly change the side panel's opacity. With a simple press of a button on the top I/O, users can toggle between what Mouse Computer calls "Transparent Mode" and "Stealth Mode." A key design element is that even in the frosted "Stealth Mode," the glow from internal RGB components remains visible, creating a diffused, subtle lighting effect. This can be combined with a separate button that cycles through 10 preset lighting modes for further personalization.

The NEXTGEAR EG series desktops that house this case offer a range of configurations. Processor options span from the AMD Ryzen 5 4500 to the Ryzen 7 7700. On the graphics front, choices start with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 and go up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070. All-AMD builds are also available, featuring Radeon RX 9060 and RX 9060XT graphics cards.

Currently, the NEXTGEAR Clear Shift case is only available in Japan as part of a bundled NEXTGEAR EG system, with no plans announced for a standalone retail release.
