Huawei nova 13 Series Introduced In China With Ambitious Features
Huawei has officially unveiled its new “Nova 13” and “Nova 13 Pro” smartphones in China, something we had been anticipating since the beginning of this month. It is important to note that both phones are equipped with high-resolution OLED displays, improved camera systems, and new artificial intelligence capabilities.
Both models stand out for integrating the HarmonyOS 4.2 version and offer an optimized experience in both photography and connectivity. Although, specifically, the Nova 13 Pro has a 6.76-inch curved OLED screen with a resolution of 2776 x 1224 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition, it sports a PWM dimming frequency of 2160 Hz, which improves visual smoothness and reduces eye fatigue.
On the other hand, the Nova 13 sports a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 2412 x 1084 pixel resolution, which also offers a 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate. Both phones are powered by the Kirin 8000 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM, though the memory technology differs between the two — the Nova 13 uses LPDDR4X, while the Nova 13 Pro employs LPDDR5.
AI-powered cameras
Regarding cameras, the Nova 13 features a dual rear system, including a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The 60MP front camera allows you to capture high-definition selfies. In the case of the Nova 13 Pro, this model offers a more advanced camera setup: a 50MP main sensor with a variable aperture between f/1.4 and f/4.0, a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera of the Nova 13 Pro is also 60MP, but with an advanced focusing system that includes 5x zoom.
Note that both phones feature the Da Vinci Portrait Engine 2.0, which uses artificial intelligence to improve portraits through intelligent adjustments to skin tone, texture, and bokeh effects. They also feature a variety of photo editing tools, such as object removal, smart cropping, and AI-powered image scaling.
The 5,000mAh battery on the Nova 13 and Nova 13 Pro supports 100W fast charging, which can charge the device up to 50% in under 10 minutes. These features, along with NFC connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2, and support for satellite messaging in China, make the devices competitive options in the market.

The Smartphones are available in 4 colors and 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage versions. Nova 13 starts at 2,699 yuan (around USD 378) for the 256GB version, while the Nova 13 Pro starts at 3,699 yuan (about USD 519). The phones will be available for purchase starting from October 25.
