Huawei Pura X Max Officially Announced: The Industry's First Wide Horizontal Foldable Phone
Huawei has officially unveiled the Pura X Max, positioning it as the industry's first wide horizontal foldable smartphone. The company announced the groundbreaking device on April 13th, setting the stage for a full launch on April 20th, where it will be released alongside the much-anticipated Pura 90 series.
With the tagline "Pioneer of wide folding, innovating wide folding again," Huawei is emphasizing the unique form factor of this new device. Official promotional materials give a first look at what to expect from this new foldable category.
Early images reveal a design with distinct, flat-edged frames. The external cover screen features a centered punch-hole camera, while the larger, internal folding screen has its punch-hole camera located in the top-right corner, offering a different user experience depending on which display is in use. According to industry insiders, the Huawei Pura X Max will feature an expansive main display measuring approximately 7.6 inches when unfolded.

On the rear, the Pura X Max sports a distinctive camera module. It consists of a horizontal, rounded rectangular housing that encloses three circular camera lenses. While the module is noticeably raised, it features a smooth, slanted transition to blend more seamlessly with the phone's back panel.

The Huawei Pura X Max will be available in at least three different color options, as seen in the promotional images, offering users a choice of styles to match their preferences.

With its unique wide horizontal fold, large screen, and distinct design, it aims to carve out a new niche. More official specifications and details will be revealed at the launch event on April 20th.
