OLED MacBook Pro Adds a Stable Hinge and Slimmer Bezels
Apple's upcoming OLED MacBook Pro will introduce a significantly upgraded chassis, highlighted by a newly engineered hinge designed to prevent display wobble during touch interaction. Aimed at creative professionals and power users waiting for a touchscreen Mac, the laptop pairs a lighter, thinner profile with Apple's first Tandem OLED panel, though buyers may see faster chip obsolescence as Apple plans to bypass high-end M6 variants to accelerate M7 development.
According to reporting from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the upcoming flagship laptop features several notable exterior refinements: a marginally reduced chassis thickness, noticeably narrower display borders, and a substantial decrease in overall carry weight.

Redesigned Hinge Solves Touchscreen Stability
The standout structural enhancement centers on the display hinge mechanism. Gurman notes that Apple has completely redesigned the hinge assembly to provide increased rigidity, ensuring the panel remains completely steady without vibrating or wobbling when tapped or manipulated by hand.
Tandem OLED Integration and M5 Chipset Roadmap
Beyond external refinements, the revised MacBook Pro marks Apple's transition to Tandem OLED screen technology. It also stands as the company's first laptop equipped with a touch-sensitive panel.
Under the hood, the machines are expected to launch with M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Rather than issuing premium configurations in an eventual M6 generation, Apple is reportedly planning to skip high-end M6 chips entirely in order to expedite the release timeline for the future M7 generation.
Would touchscreen functionality combined with a wobble-free hinge change how you interact with macOS, or do you prefer keeping notebook workflows strictly confined to the trackboard and keyboard?
