OPPO Find N6 Review: The Crease is Gone, But Its New Multitasking Window is the Real Star

Foldable phones have come a long way. Issues like excessive weight, poor battery life, and compromised performance have largely been addressed, bringing them on par with traditional flagship candy bar phones. Over the years, manufacturers have turned these novel devices into viable daily drivers. However, one persistent problem has remained: the screen crease.

On March 17, OPPO unveiled its latest foldable flagship, the Find N6, with a clear mission to tackle this very issue. The headline feature is an 'imperceptible crease' designed for a smooth, flat display even after long-term use. We were at the launch event to bring you this first-hand report.

OPPO Tackles the Most Stubborn Problem: The Crease

The central crease has been an unavoidable characteristic of large foldable screens from nearly every brand. While not affecting functionality, it's a constant visual and tactile reminder that the screen is, in fact, folded. Previous solutions involved complex hinge designs and flexible glass to create a more natural bend. The Find N6 takes this a step further with its new-generation titanium alloy Celestial Hinge, featuring an industry-first bionic symmetrical four-axis structure. This design reduces surface undulation from 0.18mm to just 0.1mm.

OPPO then uses high-precision spectral confocal scanning and 3D polymer printing to smooth out the remaining microscopic variations. The result is a height difference in the folding area of only about 0.05 mm, making the crease virtually invisible and undetectable by touch under normal viewing angles. The device is also certified by TÜV Rheinland for 600,000 folds while maintaining its flatness and features IP59, IP58, and IP56 water resistance.

Lighter, Bigger Battery, and a True Imaging Flagship

Beyond the crease, OPPO continues its mission to make foldables feel like conventional flagships. The Find N6 weighs in at approximately 225 grams, comparable to many high-end candy bar phones. This is achieved through a more compact and efficient hinge design. Thanks to advancements in silicon-carbon battery technology, OPPO has fitted a massive, near-6000mAh battery into the device. Paired with 80W wired and 50W wireless fast charging, battery anxiety should be a thing of the past for foldable users.

Another area where foldables often compromise is photography. The Find N6 breaks this trend by incorporating a powerful imaging system alongside its Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. It features a remarkable 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. With Hasselblad co-engineered color tuning, the Find N6 firmly establishes itself as a true imaging flagship, fulfilling a key expectation for a top-tier device.

A Step Closer to a 'Better Phone'

While hardware improvements address user concerns, the software experience is what truly unlocks the potential of a large, foldable screen. On the Find N6's 8.12-inch inner display, OPPO has upgraded its multitasking system to the 'Panoramic Freedom Window,' creating a more desktop-like multi-window interface. This system allows for up to three large app windows to run simultaneously, with an additional three apps in floating windows. Users can freely resize and rearrange windows, and seamlessly switch between split-screen and multi-window modes with simple gestures. This flexibility transforms the multitasking experience, making it feel more like working on a desktop.

To complement the new software, the Find N6 now supports an AI Stylus. This is more than just an input device; it's integrated with AI capabilities for enhanced productivity. Features include circling handwritten notes to convert them to text, automatic note organization, and key point extraction. On a portable large-screen device, the stylus provides a more natural way to interact with content during reading, annotation, and note-taking, with AI handling the busywork of organization.
