Xiaomi 17 Series Gets Major Camera Upgrade: LOFIC, Dual-View Video, and More

Xiaomi is rolling out a significant camera-focused software update for its flagship Xiaomi 17 series, including the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. According to a product manager from Xiaomi's camera department, the new version, OS3.0.44.0.WPCCNXM, introduces a host of powerful features and enhancements aimed at both professional videographers and casual creators.

A key highlight for high-end users is the ability to manually enable LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) mode in video recording on the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. This feature, which significantly enhances dynamic range in high-contrast scenes, now supports resolutions up to 4K at 60FPS. Furthermore, the professional video LOG mode has been upgraded to support more LUTs (Look-Up Tables), providing more vivid and realistic previews during shooting.

The update also brings exciting new creative tools. A new "Dual-View" mode allows users to record video using the front and rear cameras simultaneously, opening up new possibilities for vlogging and creative storytelling. Additionally, users can now capture dynamic photos while a video is being recorded, ensuring no fleeting moment is missed.

User experience and model-specific enhancements are also a core part of this release. The camera interface now allows for customization of the top toolbar and menu functions, enabling users to tailor the layout to their personal habits for improved efficiency. For the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max, the rear-screen camera adds a "FULL" frame option for a more immersive video selfie experience. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra receives an intelligent scene card feature, with optimizations specifically for capturing challenging scenarios like fireworks and stage performances.

Another notable addition is a dynamic watermark capability, which will be applied to dynamic photos taken after the update is installed.

These changes demonstrate a continued focus on providing a versatile and powerful mobile photography and videography experience.
