Dyson Unveils the CameraJet: An AI-Powered Toothbrush with a Built-in Camera
Following its innovations in vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, and air purifiers, Dyson has now turned its engineering prowess to oral health. The company has announced a device that is far more than just an electric toothbrush. Dyson has integrated an electric toothbrush, a water flosser, an endoscopic camera, and an AI image recognition system into a single handle, creating a device that brushes, sees, and cleans between teeth automatically.
A Toothbrush That Can See Between Teeth
The most unusual part of CameraJet sits just below the brush head: a tiny 100,000-pixel macro camera with strobing lights.

Dyson says the camera analyzes 28 live images per second and uses a machine learning system called Gap Optical Targeting to identify the spaces between teeth in real time. When the system detects a gap, it can trigger a jet of mouthwash within 100 milliseconds.
That means CameraJet is not just brushing the visible tooth surface. It is also trying to target the areas people often miss, especially between teeth, where plaque can build up.
The system was trained on 470,000 dental images and runs on roughly 16 million lines of code. Those are very Dyson numbers: big, technical, and clearly meant to show that this is an engineering project, not a simple electric toothbrush with an app attached.
Brushing and Flossing at the Same Time
Instead of using a traditional needle-like water flosser jet, Dyson designed a wider conical liquid jet. The company says this shape is meant to cover more surface area and remove plaque more gently than a narrow stream.

Each spray uses up to about 0.15ml of mouthwash, which helps explain why the toothbrush does not need a large water tank. The handle includes a 12.5ml internal mouthwash tank, while the charging base includes a larger 200ml reservoir.
Place the brush back on the dock, press a button, and Dyson says the handle tank can refill in about three seconds.
That dock is one of the more practical pieces of the system. Traditional water flossers are often bulky because they need a tank and hose. CameraJet tries to turn that into a self-contained toothbrush, while still keeping the refill process simple.
The “Anti-Gravity” Tank Solves a Real Problem
A toothbrush is not always held upright. When brushing lower teeth, the handle may be tilted sideways or upside down. That creates a problem for any liquid system inside the handle: if the intake pulls in air, the spray becomes inconsistent.
Dyson’s solution is what it calls an anti-gravity capsule tank. Inside the tank, a diaphragm pump and pressure chamber keep liquid moving toward the jet even when the brush is held at different angles.

That may sound like a small detail, but it is exactly the kind of problem that separates a concept from something people can actually use every morning.
The brush itself weighs 230g, excluding the dock, and is rated IPX7 for water resistance. Dyson says both the lithium battery and brush head are replaceable.

App View, Cleaning Data, and Replaceable Heads
Because CameraJet has a camera, Dyson also lets users see a live view inside the mouth through the MyDyson app. The app can show cleaning coverage, missed areas, brushing and flossing insights, and longer-term cleaning trends.

Dyson says the camera is only active during live viewing or auto-jetting, and that images are not recorded or stored on the product or in the cloud.
The brush head uses a two-layer bristle design: firmer inner bristles for tooth surfaces and softer outer bristles for gums and gaps. The sonic motor runs at up to 58,000 movements per minute, with three intensity options: Gentle, Variable, and Deep Clean.

Users can switch between three modes: brushing and jetting together, brushing only, or jetting only.
The brush heads also include RFID chips to track usage and remind users to replace them every three months.
