MWC 2025: A First Look at Samsung's Project Moohan XR Headset

Samsung Project Moohan XR Headset

Samsung unveiled its highly anticipated Project Moohan XR headset for the first time at this year's Mobile World Congress. Developed in collaboration with Google, this Android XR headset has been in the works for some time and is expected to launch within the next year. It will debut on the Android XR platform, designed for headsets and smart glasses.

The Project Moohan headset features a design similar to the Apple Vision Pro, fully encasing the head for an immersive experience. The name "Moohan," which means infinity in Korean, reflects its expansive field of view and high-quality displays. With this device, users can easily navigate Google Maps, enjoy sports events in extended view, and use the Gemini tool for travel planning.

According to Samsung, the integration of multimodal AI with advanced XR technology will make this device a major leap toward offering highly personalized and context-aware experiences that enhance users' daily lives.

While we were unable to interact with the headset during the trade show physically, we did see the first real-life prototypes. Before this, the details were only available in renderings. The headset features four visible cameras on the front and capacitive control strips along the stems. However, Samsung did not provide any technical specifications or additional features.

Alongside the XR headset, Samsung also unveiled its Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy A series smartphones. The company provided an exclusive preview of the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge, which features an ultra-thin design and is expected to launch later this year, following its initial preview at the earlier Galaxy Unpacked event in January.
