New Apple TV Model Expected In 2025: Here’s What We Know

Apple hasn't updated the Apple TV lineup since 2022, but rumors suggest a new model could finally arrive in 2025. While details aren't official yet, a few clues give us a sense of what to expect.

A more powerful chip

The current Apple TV 4K uses the A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13 series. It's time for an upgrade, and rumors suggest the next generation could include the A17 Pro, a better processor, and at least 8GB of RAM. This integration would allow for support for Apple's Intelligence features, including a new, smarter version of Siri. The A17 Pro could also support high-quality console games like Resident Evil 4 and Death Stranding, which are already available on iPhone and iPad.

Faster connection with Wi-Fi 6E

The new model is expected to include a custom Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip compatible with Wi-Fi 6E. This technology, which uses the 6 GHz band, would improve connection speed and network stability.

Apple is expected to keep two variants: one Wi-Fi only and another with Wi-Fi + Ethernet. Additionally, support for Bluetooth 5.3 and integration with Thread and Matter would continue to ensure excellent management of smart home devices. Adopting Wi-Fi 6E could further improve smart home connectivity by reducing interference and increasing bandwidth.

Design: no revolution

Apple isn't expected to change the design of the Apple TV. The new model will likely retain the same thin, black plastic body as the current version.

Price: Possible cheapest model

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has speculated that a more affordable Apple TV, priced under $100, is on the way. However, Apple may keep the current model at a lower price rather than launching a new low-cost version. The Apple TV 4K currently starts at $129 for the 64GB version.

When will it arrive?

The Apple TV update is expected at the end of 2025, likely between September and October.
