Plaud Launches Plaud One AI Earphones With a Built-In 4G Voice Recorder

Plaud has announced the Plaud One Explorer Edition, expanding its lineup of dedicated AI recording devices into the true wireless earbud market. The new model features a unique charging case that functions as a standalone, cellular-connected voice recorder. The earbuds are available in a global limited run of 2,000 units, starting at $249.99.
Why It Matters
While traditional earbud makers are adding basic AI features like translation or voice assistants, Plaud is taking a different approach. The company is using the Plaud One to bring its established, subscription-based AI transcription and summary software to a broader, more everyday wearable format. It signals a shift where information processing and productivity capabilities could rival audio quality as a primary purchasing factor for professionals.
Core Features and Hardware
As everyday earbuds, the Plaud One comes equipped with 12mm dynamic drivers, LDAC support, and adaptive active noise cancellation (ANC) up to 40dB. The half-in-ear design weighs 4.5 grams per earbud and offers up to 6 hours of standalone battery life (36 hours with the case).
However, the primary focus remains on recording. Each earbud houses three MEMS microphones and a Voice Processing Unit (VPU) optimized for capturing phone calls and online meetings.
The Standalone Smart Case
The most notable hardware change is the charging case. Plaud has integrated four MEMS microphones into the case itself, utilizing beamforming to capture audio from up to 5 meters away. When users remove the earbuds and place the case on a meeting table, it acts as an independent recording device capable of up to 25 hours of continuous use.
The case is equipped with a built-in speaker, a physical record button, and an "Agent" button. More importantly, it features built-in eSIM and 4G LTE connectivity, allowing it to sync audio to the cloud without relying on a smartphone or Wi-Fi network.
Software and Ecosystem
All recorded audio is processed through Plaud Intelligence, the company's software platform that handles transcription, summaries, and key point extraction. The new Agent button aims to automate workflows further—such as drafting follow-up emails after sales calls or creating calendar events. Plaud has also introduced MCP (Model Context Protocol) support, allowing external AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor to read and utilize the meeting transcripts directly.
Price and Availability
The Plaud One Explorer Edition is priced at $249.99 and is currently in a limited pre-order phase, restricted to 2,000 units globally. Standard hardware users receive basic AI transcription features, while power users are required to subscribe to Pro or Unlimited software tiers. Plaud has not yet confirmed the release date, pricing, or software bundles for a standard retail version.
