The annual Microsoft Ignite event featured more than 100 announcements, a majority of which centered around improvements the company is making to its AI. 10 of the most notable announcements include the company’s AI chatbot Bing rebranding as Copilot, as well as the new Windows AI Studio which will be a centralized hub for creatives to access AI models.
The announcements were made by Microsoft CEO and keynote speaker Satya Nadella at the two-day event, which took place between November 15 and 16 in Seattle. The event is one of the biggest annual conferences for developers and tech professionals in the world.
SpaceX Set for the Second Launch of the Massive Starship Rocket
Friday, November 17, has been scheduled in the SpaceX calendar as the day they will launch Starship; what is set to be SpaceX's next-generation space transportation system. This follows the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announcement that the company was granted the license for the launch on November 15, following SpaceX successfully meeting all the environmental, safety, and financial requirements.
According to SpaceX, the Starship is the biggest and most powerful rocket ever built, measuring in at an incredible height of 122 meters (400 feet). The rocket’s first-stage booster has been named Super Heavy, while its upper-stage spacecraft is known as Starship. The FAA reports that the license is only valid for one launch.
Amazon Releases Astro Bot for Business
This week, Amazon announced the release of the Astro for Business, a new security bot that businesses can purchase for $2499 to patrol the premises either remotely or autonomously. For those who are already imagining the start of the robot takeover, The Verge describes the new bot as more of a Wall-E and less of a Terminator.
The Astro for Business is fitted with an HD periscope camera with night vision, and it also boasts conversational abilities with a 2-way talk system. Amazon offers 3 different subscription packages to help businesses protect and monitor their facilities.
Uber Is Testing Uber Tasks in Two Cities
The global rideshare and delivery service provider Uber is planning to add yet another service to its portfolio. The new Uber Tasks which is currently being tested in Florida and Alberta is set to rival TaskRabbit by providing people to help with completing errands and everyday tasks like yard services and garden maintenance.
According to 9to5Mac, the company reported its slowest growth revenue in nearly three years last week. Uber launched the new service in an attempt to combat its slow revenue growth, and they also believe it will help drivers increase their earnings.
YouTube Plans to Make Creators Disclose Their AI-Generated Content
In an attempt to combat the spread of fake content and protect the public from being confused, YouTube has announced a new policy that requires creators to put a label on all AI-generated content that looks too realistic. This will apply to all synthetic content that depicts events that never happened, statements that were never said, or anything that could cause defamation.
CNN reports that experts have voiced their concerns over the growth of generative AI tools, stating that AI-generated content could be potentially harmful leading up to the 2024 U.S. Elections. In its official announcement, YouTube also said that people will also be allowed to request the removal of misleading content that has been manipulated with AI tools.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Rumored Specs Have Started Emerging
February is three months away which is right around the corner, and based on the Samsung February debuts of the past, we can expect the tech giant to release the new Samsung Galaxy S24 in Q1 of 2024 as well. Aside from the speculated release date, we have information about the device’s rumored display, camera, and battery life.
It’s rumored that the new Samsung Galaxy S24 will have an incredible screen refresh rate of 144 Hz and reach peak brightness at 2500 nits. It’s also speculated that the new Samsung will get an optimized version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset which was released in October this year.
