Blackview Xplore 6 Adds a Rear Display and a 10x Telephoto Extender to a Rugged Phone
Blackview has unveiled the Xplore 6, a rugged phone shown at IFA 2026 that tries to do more than survive drops and dust.
The most unusual part of the device is the combination of a rear display and support for a 10x optical telephoto extender. That gives the phone a stronger outdoor and photography angle than most rugged handsets, which usually stop at durability and battery life.
A Rugged Phone With a Back Screen
The Blackview Xplore 6 is a heavy device, measuring 18.2mm thick and weighing 428g. On the front, it uses a 6.73-inch AMOLED display with a 3200 x 1440 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Around the back is a 1.47-inch secondary display with a resolution of 368 x 194. Blackview says the screen can show the time, date, and music controls, and can also work as a viewfinder for the camera.
That makes the Xplore 6 more flexible than a typical rugged phone. Instead of treating the back of the phone as dead space, Blackview is using it as a small utility display.
Built for the Outdoors, Not Just the Spec Sheet
The Xplore 6 runs on the Dimensity 9400+ chip and comes with up to 18GB of RAM and either 512GB or 1TB of storage.
It also includes a massive 12,000mAh battery, along with 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. For outdoor use, that battery size matters as much as the chipset, especially if the phone is expected to handle navigation, camera use, and extended time away from a charger.
Blackview also says the phone is rated for MIL-STD-810H, IP68, and IP69K protection, and claims it can survive a 2-meter drop.
Camera Kit Goes Further Than Most Rugged Phones
The imaging setup is also more ambitious than most rugged devices.
Blackview says the Xplore 6 has a 50MP triple rear camera system, with a Samsung OV50H main sensor featuring OIS, plus a 50MP front camera. More importantly, the phone supports a detachable 10x optical telephoto extender with an equivalent focal length of 230mm.
When combined with digital zoom, Blackview says the system can reach an equivalent focal length of up to 1600mm. That is far beyond what most rugged phones can do, and it clearly pushes the Xplore 6 toward the “outdoor photography tool” category.
Availability and Software Support
The Blackview Xplore 6 is expected to go on sale globally at the end of September for €950.
It ships with Android 16, and Blackview says it will receive three major Android version updates. That is a useful detail for buyers considering a rugged phone, since software support is often one of the weakest points in this category.
