RedMagic 10 Pro Series Launched With SD 8 Elite, Priced from €672
As previously announced, RedMagic held an event in its home country of China today to officially launch its new RedMagic 10 Pro phones. This series includes two members, the RedMaigc 10 Pro and 10 Pro+. Both phones feature an extremely premium design with a beautiful edge-to-edge display on the front, powerful hardware with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and many other impressive features.
But they differ above all in battery and charging speed. As is now tradition for this type of product, RedMagic has focused on the aspects that interest video game enthusiasts the most: performance, display, battery life, and thermal management.
Design and Features
RedMagic has also focused on the gaming experience by equipping the RedMagic 10 Pro series with dedicated trigger buttons, providing console-like control and precision. The gaming duo also features customizable RGB lighting, which illuminates the left and right vents, enhancing the immersive gaming experience.
The RedMagic 10 Pro Series also comes with a red slider on the right edge that allows users to switch to Game Mode for enhanced gaming performance. The device also provides gamers with trigger buttons for landscape gaming and an X-axis 0815 linear motor to create 4D vibrations in games, thus enhancing haptic feedback while gaming.
At the core of both products is Qualcomm’s latest mobile chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, whose performance is extremely promising, at least judging by preliminary benchmarks. But that’s not all: RedMagic has also included its proprietary Red Core R3 gaming chip, which takes care of peripheral tasks such as RGB lighting management, customizing haptic feedback, sound effects, and so on.
The heat dissipation system is quite complex, and uses, among other things, a liquid metal material and an internal fan capable of reaching 23,000 RPM. This extremely aggressive system allows the Qualcomm chipset to reach power levels that have not yet been seen on traditional devices: RedMagic talks about scores that are close to 3.3 million on AnTuTu, against a “standard” of 3 million net. The super-fast memories probably help LPDDR5X Ultra (9600 MB/s) for the RAM and UFS 4.0 Pro for the storage.
The display also sees rather refined and interesting solutions. The panel is 6.85”, naturally OLED, and with a resolution of “1.5K”. It is produced by BOE but developed in partnership with Red Magic itself. It reaches a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a brightness of 2,000 nits.
The frames then have record thinness: just 0.7 mm, which grows to 1.25 on the corners. Thanks to this, the device reaches a screen/body ratio of over 95%.
The Red Magic 10 Pro+ has a massive battery: 7,050mAh, no less, with support for 120W wired charging, which can go from 0 to 50% in just 11 minutes. The 10 Pro has to “make do,” so to speak, with 6,500 mAh and 80W, for a full 0-100 charge of 35 mm.
As you can imagine, the photographic sector is not particularly exciting: we have a 50MP main, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro. However, photography is not the main target of the device. At least there is the 3.5 mm audio jack!
RedMagic has also planned a special “Golden Saga Edition” with essentially the same technical specifications but an even more efficient dissipation system thanks to the use of gold and silver (in particular, it is the first vapor chamber in gold and gold-silver ducts). Carbon fiber is also used to reduce weight, while the rear shell is made of sapphire. There are other gold accents, for example, the power button.
