Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Is Launching Tomorrow. What he has prepared?
On the eve of the Unpacked presentation, almost everything became known about the upcoming flagships of the Galaxy S24 line. From detailed specifications to AI software tricks, we collected the most interesting things about new products the day before the premiere.
Appearance and screens
From existing leaks, we know that the South Korean brand will retain the usual design code in the devices, but with minor changes. The Ultra version of the S24 will for the first time have a flat display without rounded edges, like its predecessor. Four colors will be available: black, grey, purple and yellow. The S24 Ultra has the word Titanium added to the shade names, which hints at the titanium finish on the phone's edges.
The matrix diagonals of the gadgets are as follows: S24 - 6.2", S24+ - 6.7", S24 Ultra - 6.8". The base model has a screen resolution of FHD+, while older options have a screen resolution of 3120x1440. All three flagships are equipped with Dynamic AMOLED panels with an adaptive refresh rate (1-120 Hz). Peak brightness will be 2600 nits, and increased response speed of the touch layer is also reported. There is no information about the value of PWM dimming.
New Exynos, but not everywhere
It is known that in European countries the S24 and S24+ will be released on the Exynos 2400 processor. This is a proprietary 4-nm Samsung solution, which includes the main Cortex-X4 core (3.2 GHz), two Cortex-A720 (2.9 GHz) and three Cortex- A720 (2.6 GHz) and four Cortex-A520 (1.95 GHz). The graphics are handled by the Xclipse 940 GPU based on the AMD RDNA3 architecture. The NPU of the chipset is stated to be 18% more powerful than that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy. The video accelerator is 32% faster, and the CPU is 25% faster.
The S24 Ultra, in turn, will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy chip in all regions. In a special version of the platform from Qualcomm, the clock frequency of the main X4 core is increased: from 3.3 to 3.39 GHz. To improve cooling, the vapor chambers in each smartphone have been enlarged. The top version has up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The base model has 8GB of RAM and a storage capacity of up to 256GB.
Cameras up to 200MP
The S24 and S24+ have the same set of cameras, led by a 50-megapixel main sensor. There is also a telephoto (10 megapixel, 3x zoom) and ultra-wide (12MP). The devices support 30x hybrid Space Zoom, while the Ultra variant offers up to 100x zoom. The flagship has four cameras: the main sensor (200MP), telephoto (50MP, 5x optical zoom), ultra-wide (12MP) and an additional telephoto (10MP, 3x zoom).
All three devices can shoot video with 8K resolution and a frame rate of 30 fps. The battery capacity of the standard S24 is 4000mAh, the Plus modification is 4500mAh, and the top-end S24 Ultra is 5000mAh with support for 45-watt charging.
AI capabilities of OneUI
Finally, Samsung has put a lot of emphasis on artificial intelligence features in OneUI 6.1 firmware. A set of Browsing Assist options will allow you to summarize and translate articles in a proprietary browser and mark important points on web pages. The media editor in the Gallery application can compress videos and also slow down parts of clips, creating a Slow Motion effect.
In addition, with the help of neural networks it will be possible to cut out and remove individual objects from photos and videos. Other interesting innovations include summarizing long notes in Samsung Notes, translating the interlocutor's speech during calls in real time, an AI wallpaper generator and visual effects for the lockscreen screensaver.
Pixel-like support
In recent years, the South Korean company has been increasingly extending support periods for its smartphones. And this time, according to insider information, Samsung intends to provide 7 years of OS updates for the Galaxy S24 series. Similar support is now offered only by Google for Pixel 8 smartphones. Previously, for most models, the manufacturer promised only 4 years of major updates and 5 years of security patches.
