Samsung XR Headset Likely to be Released In March 2025
Samsung has brought its extended artificial intelligence technology, which it first introduced at the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event, back to the agenda after a long hiatus. At the Galaxy Unpacked event held last week, in addition to new products such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, the highly anticipated XR title was also discussed again: In fact, a recent report has revealed more details about the launch date of this Android XR headset from Samsung.
Moohan will combine AR and VR technology
According to a report by Business Insider, Samsung's first XR headset is being developed under the code name 'Moohan'. The estimated launch dates for the device, which will be produced in collaboration with Qualcomm, Samsung, and Google, have also been revealed. Accordingly, the developer model of the XR headset is expected to be introduced in October 2024, while the consumer version is expected to be introduced in March 2025.
It's not yet clear how Samsung will launch the product. The company could send the XR headset only to developers or hold a big launch event to announce the on-sale date. However, the Samsung Developer Conference SDC 2024 is scheduled for October 3, and he may announce more details about this XR headset at that time.
As for the specs
According to the leaked information, Samsung’s headset is expected to feature two 1.03-inch square OLEDoS displays with a resolution of 2,500 x 2,500 pixels, a pixel density of 3,500 ppi, and a refresh rate of 90Hz. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor could power the XR headset, which could feature 12 cameras. It is also noted that the software for Moohan is being developed with the active participation of Google.
Samsung's new XR headset is expected to compete with the Apple Vision Pro and have more advanced features. As you may recall, Samsung's first XR headset project was canceled because the Apple Vision Pro was too advanced. With these features, Samsung aims to become a strong player in the extended reality market. The device is expected to open a new era in AR technology.
