Best Selling Smartphones 2024

During the second quarter of 2024, covering the months from April to June, there was a notable increase in smartphone shipments. But which models emerged as the best-sellers globally?

In a report published by Counterpoint, the top 10 best-selling smartphones globally for the second quarter of 2024 have been revealed. The data shows that Apple continues to dominate the market, with its iPhone 15,15 Pro Max, and 15 Pro taking the top three spots.

The iPhone 15 leads the pack with a market share of 4.1%, followed closely by the iPhone 15 Pro Max with 3.7%, and the iPhone 15 Pro with 3.1%. The first Android-based smartphone to appear in the ranking is the Samsung Galaxy A15, which takes 4th place with a market share of 3.4%.

One notable trend is the absence of the iPhone 15 Plus from the ranking, which is a new development in the smartphone market. The same fate befell its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Plus, leading to rumors that Apple may be phasing out this model in favor of a new "Slim" variant.

The data also confirms that previous year's base iPhone models tend to perform well in the market. The iPhone 14, which was released in Q2 2023, placed 6th in the ranking, while its predecessor, the iPhone 13, was 4th in Q2 2023.

Samsung has three smartphones in the top 10 ranking, with the Galaxy A15 being the most affordable option. The Galaxy A55 takes 7th place, while the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra is 9th.

Notably, if we combine the sales of the Galaxy A15's 5G and 4G versions, its total market share would be second only to the iPhone 15's, with a percentage of 3.8%. This highlights Samsung's strong presence in the mid-range market. The only non-Apple or Samsung smartphone to make it into the top 10 is the Redmi 13C 4G from Xiaomi.

Overall, the report shows that it's a two-horse race between Apple and Samsung, with both brands having multiple models in the ranking. However, Samsung's strong performance in the mid-range market and its flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra model suggest that it's still a major player in the global smartphone market.
