Galaxy Z Fold 8 Rumors: A Major Course Correction with a 5000mAh Battery and S Pen's Return

Galaxy Z Fold 8

According to a report from Android Authority on October 28, while Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 is one of the more outstanding foldable phones on the market, some users have expressed dissatisfaction. The device's battery capacity has remained at 4400mAh, the same as the Z Fold 3, showing no improvement for five consecutive generations. Furthermore, the company's decision to remove S Pen support was a point of contention for many fans.

However, new information from Dealsite, citing industry insiders, suggests Samsung is planning a significant "course correction" for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8. The report claims the battery capacity could exceed 5000mAh, a substantial increase from the 4400mAh battery found in the Z Fold 7. This would be a welcome change for power users who have been waiting for a major boost in endurance.

It's worth noting that such a dramatic leap in battery capacity is historically rare for Samsung. For context, the Z Flip 7 saw a modest increase from 4000mAh to 4300mAh, and the Galaxy S25 FE's battery was upgraded from 4500mAh to 4900mAh. Therefore, while the rumor is exciting, the final battery capacity of the Z Fold 8 is not yet confirmed.

In addition to the battery, sources indicate there is high industry expectation for the return of S Pen support on the Z Fold 8. Samsung previously removed S Pen functionality from the Z Fold 7, stating that the digitizer layer was removed from the screen to achieve a thinner and lighter body. Its potential return would be a major win for productivity-focused users.

Further improvements may also be coming to the inner display. Insiders claim the crease on the Z Fold 8's screen could be less prominent. Samsung is expected to apply a laser drilling metal plate technology in the production process, which could reduce the crease phenomenon and provide a better tactile feel for the inner screen.
