Go for Gold: Crucial Unveils a Premium Gold Variant of the X10 Pro Portable SSD

Micron's consumer brand, Crucial, is adding a touch of luxury to its high-performance storage lineup. Originally launched in 2023, the Crucial X10 Pro portable SSD, known for its powerful USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20Gbps) Type-C interface, was first available in a standard black finish. Now, the company is introducing a new, eye-catching gold variant for users who value both speed and style.

This new gold edition of the X10 Pro is available in 2TB and 4TB capacities, catering to professionals and content creators who require substantial storage space on the go. The new color option provides a premium aesthetic choice, distinguishing it from the more conventional black models that were initially offered in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB sizes.

While the exterior has received a stylish upgrade, the performance under the hood remains unchanged. The gold X10 Pro continues to deliver exceptional speeds, boasting a maximum sequential read rate of 2,100MB/s and a maximum sequential write rate of 2,000MB/s. Furthermore, it retains its durable build, featuring an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance, ensuring your data stays safe in various environments.

This premium finish does, however, come with a higher price tag. The 2TB gold model is currently listed at $211.99, a noticeable increase from the $182.99 price of the black version. Similarly, the 4TB gold variant is priced at $321.99, compared to $275.99 for its black counterpart. This positions the gold model as a premium option for those willing to pay more for a distinctive look.

In addition to this launch, Crucial has also recently released a glossy black version of its more mainstream X10 portable SSD, which also features a 20Gbps interface. This shows a clear effort by the brand to refresh its product lines with new aesthetic choices. In conclusion, the new gold Crucial X10 Pro successfully merges top-tier performance with a luxurious design, offering a compelling choice for users who want their high-speed storage to make a statement.
