Huawei Returns to the Global Kids' Smartwatch Market with the Innovative Watch Kids X1 Series

After a nearly five-year hiatus, Huawei has officially re-entered the international kids' smartwatch market with the launch of the new Watch Kids X1 series. Unveiled at a global innovative product launch event in Thailand, this marks the first update to the company's international lineup since the Watch Kids 4 Pro.

The Huawei Watch Kids X1 series includes two models: the X1 and X1 Pro. Both feature a durable, armor-style design with a metallic finish, centered around a 1.82-inch AMOLED display with a 480×408 resolution, all framed by an octagonal bezel. The standard X1 is designed for wrist sizes of 115-190mm, while the Pro version accommodates 120-190mm wrists.

The standout design feature of the series is its versatile, flippable body that supports 360° rotation. On the standard X1, the main body can be lifted from its base and spun around. The X1 Pro takes this a step further with a fully detachable design, allowing the watch unit to be placed in an included camera case for independent photography.

For capturing memories, both models are equipped with a 5MP front-facing camera and a 13MP rear camera, the latter offering a 110° ultra-wide-angle view. The front camera is ideal for high-definition video calls, while the rear camera handles photography. The standard X1 comes with 32GB of storage, enough for about 2,000 HD photos, and the Pro model doubles that to 64GB, capable of storing over 5,000 photos.

Safety and positioning are paramount, and the Watch Kids X1 series features a five-mode positioning system that combines dual-band satellite positioning, base station positioning, dual-band Wi-Fi positioning, sensor-assisted positioning, and SOS-assisted positioning. Through the companion "Huawei FamCare" app, parents can view their child's real-time location, set up safe and dangerous zones with entry/exit alerts, and receive emergency notifications. An SOS button on the side can be pressed five times rapidly to trigger a distress call.

Beyond safety, the watches include heart rate monitoring and emotion-tracking features. They are built to last with IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance ratings. The standard X1 has a soft, breathable silicone strap, while the Pro model features a hard plastic strap. The watches weigh approximately 70g and 72g, respectively. Both models are powered by 2GB of RAM and an 850mAh battery, providing up to one day of typical use. They support global 2G/3G/4G cellular connectivity for HD video calls and voice messages via the Huawei MeeTime app, enhanced with AI noise cancellation.

The Huawei Watch Kids X1 is priced at €249, while the Watch Kids X1 Pro will be available for €349. It has been confirmed that the series will not be launched in the US market. This release signals Huawei's renewed focus on providing technologically advanced and safety-oriented wearables for children on a global scale.
