macOS 26.2 Developer Preview Beta 2 Released with New "Edge Light" Feature

Apple has just released the macOS 26.2 Developer Preview Beta 2 update for Mac users, with an internal version number of 25C5037g. This update comes just six days after the previous Beta/RC release.

New Feature: Edge Light

The most notable addition in this Beta 2 update is the introduction of the "Edge Light" feature. Designed specifically for video calls, this feature generates a soft virtual light around the edges of the Mac display. Its primary purpose is to provide even lighting on the user's face during video calls, significantly improving video quality in low-light environments and making the user's appearance clearer and more natural.

Upcoming Enhancements

In addition to the Edge Light feature, Apple is expected to continue deeper system integration in future versions of macOS 26.2. This includes system-level support for MCP and expanding the Image Playground feature to support third-party AI providers beyond ChatGPT.
