Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Vein Recognition Edition Launched

Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Vein Recognition Edition

Xiaomi has just launched its new Smart Door Lock 2 vein recognition edition, integrating many advanced security technologies with outstanding smart connectivity.

In terms of specifications, the highlight of the lock is its advanced vein recognition technology, which uses near-infrared light to scan the vein patterns of your fingers. This method provides a more reliable unlocking solution, especially useful for users with worn fingerprints or skin problems.

This smart lock supports up to 10 diverse unlocking methods, including AI vein recognition, AI fingerprint recognition, permanent password, one-time password, periodic password, unlocking by phone Bluetooth, mechanical key, NFC card, Xiaomi smart devices such as phones, smart watches, and smart bracelets.

In terms of operating mechanism, the product has a fully automatic lock body developed by Xiaomi with noise reduction components. The door will automatically lock after closing, improving smooth unlocking when successful identification. Xiaomi uses a C-class mechanical lock core, enhancing the ability to resist brute force and block electromagnetic interference.

The vein recognition system also aims to overcome the difficulties in fingerprint recognition that are often encountered in the elderly and children. The AI-powered algorithm continuously learns over time, helping to improve accuracy. Xiaomi promises that the system can recognize users in less than a second, with an extremely low false recognition rate of less than 0.0001%.

The device is powered by a 5000mAh lithium battery, which provides about four months of use. In addition, four AA batteries act as a backup, providing an additional six months of use. In case both power sources run out, users can charge it via the Type-C port.

Xiaomi also integrates a smart eye with a 2MP sensor into the indoor unit. This eye incorporates an AI-based human detection algorithm, automatically recording video if someone lingers near the door. The infrared night vision system is capable of recording color images in low-light conditions. In addition, the device also comes with a built-in screen that allows users to monitor the area in front of the door directly.

The lock easily integrates into the Mi Home ecosystem via Wi-Fi. Users can remotely monitor the lock status and receive alerts when there are signs of tampering via the Mi Home app. The system also supports multi-screen connectivity with Xiaomi TVs and smart home devices, and is compatible with Xiaomi's HyperOS for personalized automation settings.

Xiaomi says the product has passed rigorous durability tests, including 150,000 open-close cycles, and can withstand temperatures ranging from -10°C to 55°C. The front and back dimensions of the lock are 399×76mm, and it weighs about 3.86kg. The product is now available for pre-order on e-commerce platforms in China, and is expected to go on sale officially from June 10 for 1,699 yuan (about $235).
