Global Smart Glasses Market Soars by 110% in H1 2025, with Meta Dominating
According to Counterpoint's latest report, the global smart glasses market experienced a staggering 110% year-over-year growth in the first half of 2025. This surge was primarily driven by the strong demand for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, as well as the entry of new players like Xiaomi and RayNeo (TCL), and some smaller brands.

AI-Enabled Smart Glasses Lead the Way
In the first half of 2025, AI-enabled smart glasses accounted for 78% of total smart glasses shipments, a significant increase from 46% in the first half of 2024 and 66% in the second half of 2024. The growth of this segment exceeded 250% year-over-year, outpacing the overall market growth. Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses played a dominant role in this expansion.
Market Dynamics and Key Players
Despite the tariff crisis faced by the global electronics industry in the first half of 2025, the smart glasses market remained resilient. Counterpoint's senior research analyst, Flora Tang, noted that key OEMs and their manufacturing partners were able to navigate the challenges effectively.

Meta continued to dominate the market with a 73% share in the first half of 2025. The shipment volume of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses grew by over 200% year-over-year. Luxottica, Meta's key manufacturing partner, played a crucial role in this success by expanding production capacity, extending product lifecycles through new styles, and boosting retail sales. Luxottica's retail network, including Ray-Ban stores, Sunglass Hut, and LensCrafters, contributed significantly to the sales of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses.
Other notable players in the AI smart glasses segment included RayNeo (with the V3 series), Xiaomi (launching its first AI glasses), and Kopin Solos AirGo V series. Xiaomi's AI glasses, despite being on the market for only about a week in the first half of 2025, became the fourth best-selling model globally and the third best-selling in the AI segment. This success was largely due to the support from Chinese tech enthusiasts and Xiaomi fans. Xiaomi is expected to continue enhancing the product's performance through OTA and software updates in the coming months.
Future Outlook
Counterpoint expects more AI smart glasses to enter the market in the second half of 2025, with new models from Meta and Alibaba. Meta recently launched the Oakley Meta glasses, which offer longer battery life and better video quality, targeting athletes and sports enthusiasts. The market response to this new model has been positive. Counterpoint anticipates that Meta will adopt an aggressive strategy at its Meta Connect event, unveiling a broader product lineup to drive further growth. Meanwhile, Apple is also believed to be exploring this space and developing its first AI glasses.
In the chip processing domain, Qualcomm recently unveiled an upgraded version of its high-end smart glasses SoC, the AR 1+ Gen 1. This new chip is 26% smaller and 7% more energy-efficient than its predecessor, enabling thinner designs and longer battery life. Chinese chip manufacturers like Allwinner Technology are also entering the market with SoC solutions for mid-to-low-end smart glasses, aiming to power more affordable products.
Market Growth Projections
Given the strong market momentum and the influx of new entrants, Counterpoint has revised its smart glasses market forecasts upward for 2025 and 2026. The market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 60% from 2024 to 2029. This significant expansion is set to benefit all participants in the ecosystem, including smart glasses OEMs, chip suppliers, ODM/EMS partners, and suppliers of audio, battery, and structural components
