Nubia Z80 Ultra Launched: The All-Rounder Flagship Blending Pro Photography with Elite Gaming

Nubia Z80 Ultra

On October 22, Nubia officially unveiled its latest flagship, the Z80 Ultra, under the tagline "masterful in both photography and performance, a peerless duo." This new device aims to be an all-encompassing powerhouse, and we have all the first-hand details from the launch event.

Nubia Z80 Ultra

At its core, the Nubia Z80 Ultra is powered by the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship processor, continuing the series' iconic "hole-less" full-screen design. However, its standout feature is undoubtedly its unique imaging system, which pairs a 35mm and an 18mm lens, a rare combination in the flagship market. These are hailed as the "golden street photography focal lengths," with the 35mm lens capturing scenes similar to the human eye's focus, while the 18mm lens offers a wider perspective with a strong sense of spatial depth, perfect for storytelling.

Nubia Z80 Ultra Camera Kit

Beyond the primary lenses, the device includes an optimized 64MP periscope telephoto main camera to cover long-range shooting needs. In a nod to traditional photography, Nubia has brought back the physical shutter button, which simulates a classic camera's "half-press to focus, full-press to capture" mechanism, allowing users to seize decisive moments instantly. For enthusiasts, a professional photography kit is also available, featuring a custom leather grip case with dedicated mechanical controls, including a dial and a lever for adjusting parameters like zoom, exposure, and filters. It also retains support for T-mount lens adapters and a cold shoe interface, transforming the Z80 Ultra into a veritable camera.

On the performance front, the Nubia Z80 Ultra doesn't hold back. It incorporates the same CUBE gaming engine found in Red Magic phones, enabling advanced AI features like intelligent power allocation, dynamic frame stabilization, and 2K super-resolution with 144Hz super-framing. To sustain peak performance, it is equipped with an expanded VC liquid cooling system and physical gaming trigger buttons—a configuration rarely seen on an imaging-focused flagship.

Nubia Z80 Ultra Spec

The message from Nubia is clear: the Z80 Ultra is not just a camera phone but a true all-rounder. As stated at the launch event, "A flagship shouldn't be a single-choice question; imaging and performance can coexist." This philosophy extends to its display, a new "Sky Full Screen" with an upgraded X10 luminescent material for higher brightness, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a 3000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. The software experience has also been significantly upgraded with the new Nebula AIOS 2, which introduces the "Super Little Star 2.0" AI assistant capable of multi-modal interaction across voice, vision, and touch. With over 500 system-level optimizations, the device's fluidity has been drastically improved, addressing a major weakness of the past.
