Amazon Moves Into AI Wearables with Acquisition of Startup Bee

Amazon is stepping into the AI wearable space with its acquisition of Bee, the startup behind a $49.99 bracelet that listens to your conversations and turns them into reminders, to-do lists, and prompts. Designed to function like a voice-powered assistant that syncs with your phone, Bee aims to make managing your day feel effortless.

The acquisition hints at Amazon’s broader ambitions to move beyond Echo speakers and bring AI closer to your daily routines. While privacy concerns loom—yes, it records audio unless you mute it—Bee says audio isn’t stored or used for training, and users can delete their data at any time.

Microsoft and France Collaborate to Create Digital Twin of Notre-Dame Cathedral

Notre-Dame Cathedral, one of the most recognized symbols of France, is getting a digital twin—thanks to a collaboration between Microsoft and the French government. Following its reopening in December after years of restoration work post-2019 fire, the historic site is now being virtually preserved down to the tiniest detail. The 3D replica will allow remote visitors to explore the cathedral virtually and give preservationists a detailed record for future repairs. Microsoft’s President Brad Smith emphasized the importance of this kind of digital documentation, explaining how every centimeter is being captured for both present and future generations.

The project follows Microsoft’s successful digitalization of St. Peter’s Basilica and continues their push to protect cultural landmarks with cutting-edge tech. Partnering with French digital preservation firm Iconem, Microsoft also hopes the data can assist with restoration in case of future damage or deterioration.
