From Foldable Handhelds to Lego-Like PCs: Lenovo's Radical Vision at MWC 2026

At MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Lenovo moved beyond incremental updates, unveiling a stunning lineup of six disruptive concept devices that challenge the traditional form factor of personal computing. From a foldable gaming handheld to a modular PC that assembles like Lego, and even a desktop AI companion with expressive eyes, the company demonstrated a bold new direction for the industry.

Leading the charge is the Legion Go Fold, a device that introduces the foldable screen concept to the world of Windows gaming handhelds. In its compact state, it's a 7.7-inch device, but it unfolds to reveal a massive 11.6-inch pOLED panel. Designed for gamers who need versatility, it can transform into a lightweight laptop with an accompanying wireless keyboard, powered by an Intel Lunar Lake chip and 32GB of RAM. Similarly innovative is the ThinkBook Modular AI PC, a 14-inch concept laptop that allows users to reconfigure its components like building blocks. Its secondary screen can be attached above the main display, on the laptop's lid for presentations, or even used as a standalone portable monitor. Ports are also modular, letting users swap out HDMI for USB-C or a card reader on the fly via magnetic contacts, enhancing both versatility and repairability.

Lenovo also showcased its vision for AI integration with two desktop companions. The AI Workmate is an adorable, lamp-like robot with a screen displaying large emoji eyes that react to its surroundings. It can scan physical documents, record signatures, and even create presentations from hand-drawn sketches using its built-in camera and projector. A more subtle device, the AI Work Companion, acts as a diligent cyber secretary. Shaped like an alarm clock, it syncs schedules, generates daily plans, monitors screen time to suggest breaks, and even creates a celebratory weekly report to boost morale.

Beyond concepts, Lenovo reinforced its market-ready lineup with significant updates. The new Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition features Intel's Core Ultra Series 3 chip in a lighter frame, while new models like the 15-inch Yoga Pro 7a for creators and the OLED-equipped Legion 7a gaming laptop also made their debut. The tablet line was also refreshed with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4-powered Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 and the powerhouse 8.8-inch Legion Tab, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

In the enterprise space, Lenovo emphasized sustainability and repairability with its new ThinkPad series. The ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 and T16 Gen 5 achieved a perfect 10/10 repairability score from iFixit, meaning components can be easily replaced by users or IT departments. Even the ultra-light ThinkPad T14s Gen 7 scored an impressive 9/10. These updates, combined with improved 5MP cameras and larger speakers, position the new ThinkPads as durable, sustainable, and user-friendly business machines.

Meanwhile, Lenovo's subsidiary Motorola introduced its first large foldable, the Motorola Razr Fold. This device pushes boundaries with an incredibly bright 8.1-inch inner display boasting a 6200-nit peak brightness. To power it, Motorola included a 6000 mAh silicon-carbon battery with 80W wired charging. Despite the large battery, the device maintains a slim profile of 9.9mm when folded. It also features a formidable triple-camera system with three 50MP sensors, aiming to overcome the typical imaging compromises of foldable phones.

Lenovo's showcase at MWC 2026 collectively answers a critical question for the AI era: how can devices adapt to people, rather than the other way around? The Legion Go Fold proves that screens and controls don't need to be fixed, while the ThinkBook Modular AI PC shows that hardware can be fluid and adaptable. By breaking free from the decades-old clamshell design, Lenovo is pioneering a more flexible and human-centric future for personal computing, where hardware form is no longer a limitation but a tool for connection.
