Google's Next-Gen Nest Lineup Leaked: Gemini AI, 2K Cameras, and Smarter Home Security

Leaked renders have surfaced, reportedly showcasing Google's next generation of Nest smart home products. According to a report from Android Headline on August 25, the new lineup includes a refreshed Google Home speaker, a third-generation Nest Indoor Camera, a second-generation Nest Outdoor Camera, and a third-generation wired Nest Doorbell, all pointing towards a significant AI-powered upgrade.

The standout improvement for the new Google Home speaker is the integration of Gemini, which will replace Google Assistant. This upgrade introduces features like "Gemini Live" and "Learn with Gemini." Crucially, the speaker gains advanced sound awareness, enabling it to detect critical events like the sound of breaking glass or a smoke alarm going off. The device is also said to feature 360-degree balanced audio and can be paired with Google TV streaming devices for an integrated home entertainment experience.


Third-Gen Nest Indoor Camera

The new Nest Indoor Camera will be available in three colors: Snow, Berry, and Hazel. It receives a significant resolution boost from 1080p to 2K HDR and supports up to 6x digital zoom with image cropping, ideal for focusing on specific areas like a baby's crib. The camera extends its video event preview history to 3 hours and can locally store up to 1 hour of video if the internet connection drops. While retaining popular features like Activity Zones and Familiar Face detection, it adds new Gemini-powered smart alerts for more intelligent notifications.

Second-Gen Nest Outdoor Camera

Designed as a wired device, the second-generation Nest Outdoor Camera will come in Snow and Hazel. The Snow color will be available in multi-packs, while the Hazel option will be exclusive to the Google Store. It shares the same core features as the indoor model, including 2K HDR video, 6x zoom, a 3-hour event preview history, local storage during outages, and intelligent analysis powered by Gemini.

The third-generation wired Nest Doorbell also gets the 2K HDR upgrade and the same advanced camera functionalities. It will be offered in Snow, Hazel, and Linen colors. A unique new feature is the "Daily Summary," where Gemini generates a daily event recap to ensure users don't miss any important activity. Alongside these hardware updates, Google is reportedly rebranding its Nest Aware subscription to "Google Home Premium" and plans to introduce a new, higher-tier plan, though pricing details remain unannounced.
