MSI Unveils Ultra-Slim Modern 14S and 16S Laptops at CES 2026

At CES 2026, alongside updates to its flagship Prestige series, MSI has officially launched its new generation of mainstream thin-and-light laptops, the Modern 14S and 16S. These new models are designed to bring premium features and design to a wider audience.

Under the hood, the new Modern series is powered by Intel's next-generation Core Ultra "Panther Lake" processors. A notable feature for a thin-and-light laptop is the inclusion of SO-DIMM memory slots, suggesting that users will have the option to upgrade the RAM themselves, offering greater flexibility and future-proofing.

The new generation of Modern laptops also boasts a refined and more premium design. MSI has increased the use of metal in the chassis and given the laptops smoother, more rounded contours. This focus on materials and design aims to provide users with a more sophisticated visual aesthetic and a superior tactile experience.

Highlighting the series' focus on portability, the 14-inch model is particularly impressive. It achieves an incredibly thin profile of just 11.1mm and a feather-light weight of only 1.3kg, making it an excellent choice for users who are constantly on the move.

Despite their slim profiles, these laptops do not compromise on connectivity. The Modern 14S and 16S come equipped with a comprehensive selection of ports, including a full-function USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, an RJ45 Ethernet port, and a microSD card reader, ensuring users can connect to a wide range of peripherals and devices without needing dongles.
