Moto Tag Releases as an Alternative to Apple's AirTags For Android

Motorola has entered the smart tracker market with the release of Moto Tag, a new device designed to rival Apple's AirTags for Android users. The Moto Tag comes equipped with ultra-wideband (UWB) technology and is compatible with Google's Network to help users easily locate tagged items.

What sets Moto Tag apart?

The key feature of Moto Tag is its increased accuracy, thanks to its support for UWB technology. Users with UWB-enabled smartphones, such as Motorola's Edge 50 Ultra, can take advantage of this feature. Although integration with the Find My Device app will not be available at launch, it will be added in a future update.

Similar to Apple AirTag, Moto Tag has a circular design with a multi-function button that allows users to make calls to their paired smartphone and take remote photos.

Motorola prioritizes privacy with the Moto Tag, using end-to-end encryption on Google's Find My Device network to keep location data private. Additionally, it offers notifications about unknown trackers and manual scanning for enhanced security. The device's IP67 water and dust-resistant case makes it suitable for outdoor use.

The setup process is easy thanks to Google Fast Pair, and the Moto Tag app offers features like battery monitoring and notification volume control. According to Motorola, the smart tracker has a long-lasting battery life of approximately one year on a single charge. The CR2032 power supply can also be easily replaced if needed.

The Moto Tag will be available in select markets starting August 2, 2024, priced at $29 per unit or $99 for a four-pack. The device comes in two color options: blue and green. With its impressive features and affordable price tag, the Moto Tag is set to provide a compelling alternative to Apple's AirTags for Android users.
